I grew up in the Flint Hills of Kansas and moved to Colorado after nursing school. I earned my BS at Metropolitan State College, and my MS/PNP at the University of Colorado. I earned my PhD in nursing from the University of Utah, and began my teaching career there. I am a Professor and Department Chair at the Indiana University School of Nursing. I recently retired from the US Navy after a 21 year career in the Navy Nurse Corps. In my free time, I am a writer and photographer, and enjoy any activity that takes me outdoors.
