Nurse Practitioners

Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with advanced education, most often a Master in Nursing. This education includes academic and clinical experience in pediatric health & illness, pharmacology, child development, and family dynamics.

Nurse practitioners work in collaboration with physicians and other health professionals to provide high quality, specialized care for children from birth to young adulthood.

All of our Nurse practitioners are either certified by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)  or the American Nursing Credentialing Center (which certifies Family Nurse Practitioners).

Primary care PNPs offer a variety of services including:

  • Provide health maintenance care for children, including well child examinations
  • Perform routine developmental screenings
  • Diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses
  • Provide anticipatory guidance regarding common child health concerns
  • Provide childhood immunizations
  • Perform school physicals

When will you see a Nurse Practitioner at Northpoint?

  • For the first few years of life your child's checkups are alternated between the doctor and the nurse practitioner.
  • Nurse practitioners work alongside the physicians seeing sick and well children during the week and in our weekend clinics.
